If you’re wondering what to do with all the veggies in your garden, try pickling.
In August, 2007, we were invited by Hilda Dale to her farm south of Craik to learn how to pickle. Our thanks to Hilda, her husband Doug, and her brother Walter for their hospitality, and for providing the veggies.
On Thursday July 3rd, 2008 we had a greenhouse constructed on our property here in Craik.
The design, materials and lead construction was provided by Dr. Lynn Oliphant
We are very thankful for his enthusiasm and support of the work we’re all doing here in Craik. BIG thanks to the many friends who came by and helped put it up – Jim and Jacquie Nodge, Crystal Stinson, Glenn Hymers, Ashley Johnson, Audrey Taylor-Faye, Renee Nolting and Tom Elliot. Many more came by with interest, as well as a slough of kids who busied themselves in the yard climbing trees and picking daisies.
Now we have to put on the finishing touches and get some stuff planted. Next time you’re in Craik, do stop by and check it out. There’s a lot more to see besides a low-cost greenhouse. We’ve got a variety of daily solar demonstrations we’re more than happy to share with you.
If you’d like to learn how to build your own greenhouse be sure to register for the Design and Build workshop, held here in Craik this August 25 and 26. This is the first of three greenhouse workshops this year hosted by the Craik Sustainable Living Project (CSLP).
